WINE AND VOLCANIC SOIL, A MAGICAL UNION

…this is how wine initiates us into the volcanic mysteries of the soil, into its mysterious treasures: drinking a cup of wine […], at midday, with the sun high, or rather sipping it on a winter’s evening, when one is in that state of fatigue that allows one to feel it immediately drip warmly into the cavity of the diaphragm, and spread through the veins, burning and safe, are almost sacred sensations…

Marguerite Yourceneur, Memoirs of Hadrian

WINES WHOSE ROOTS LIE IN GREY TUFF, TRANSPORTED TO THE SANNIO REGION BY A VOLCANIC EXPLOSION MORE THAN THIRTY THOUSAND YEARS OLD.

The still and sparkling wines of the ANIMA LAVICA line are produced from vineyards cultivated on volcanic rock outcrops. Surprisingly enough, the terroir is entirely volcanic, made up of sandy, glassy soils that crackle when trodden on, dark grey in colour, friable and easy to work, permeable, in a temperate environmental context, very different from that of the coastal volcanoes of origin. The result is that the wines are an absolute surprise to the senses, a distillation of flavour and freshness.
